Product Review from Harley
Women Magazine
Being the "old fashion" type,
when I first saw the bags that Osprey Ltd. produces, well, it was love
at first sight! These bags are almost an exact copy of the saddlebags that
Harley made between 1948-1954. Osprey adapted their version to fit the
modern Heritage and Softail models.
The bags come complete with all
the bolts, nuts, washers and axle kick-out brackets that are needed to
mount them to the Heritage models. To mount them to the other Softail models,
it is necessary to also use the turn signal relocation kit from Harley.
Osprey also offers the bags with
fringe and in various colors to go along with the many H-D models - as
well as many custom painted cycles. The installation was quite easy, and
they gave my Heritage that added touch of "nostalgia" that I was looking
for. Of course, their main function is to haul around my "necessities".
Once you have saddlebags on a bike, you get spoiled, and as far as I'm
concemed, the bigger the better! I do a lot of traveling, short runs and
long. These bags help me haul around my personal belongings, as well as
my camera equipment (and the sample copies of Harley Women magazine that
Jo always makes me take). If you're starting to think about Daytona, Sturgis,
or some other trips that you want to make, then you owe it to yourself
to take a second look at these bags.
When I'm investing a few hundred
dollars into saddlebags, I really check into the quality. I like the "old
style" type of saddlebags, but I don t want bags that are going to look
old long before their time. So far these bags have held up quite well,
no matter how much I use them. They also don't seem to show excessive wear
from the weather conditions that we have both endured together.
Osprey is dedicated in providing
the motorcycle field (men & women) with 1940's to 1960's appearing
leather goods. They also make bags for Indian motorcycles,
